9/11 in new orleansby Arnold Strong on September 11, 2005 at 9:38 AMWe wear protective clothing and gloves, but there is some lethal combinations of bateria and disease growing in this water... today was 9-11. I realized this when I watched the search and rescue team from San Diego spray paint it on one of the bldgs that they cleared. Task Force 8 from San Diego, California is working very closely with us in the boat rescue and recovery operations. We are NOT involved with actual remains recovery. But we will identify where remains are and get the proper authorities to come and remove them. That has taken some time in some cases. I think the real issue of remains recovery will come when the waters trult ebb. Right now they have receded, but not to a level where you can walk in it. We wear protective clothing and gloves, but there is some lethal combinations of bateria and disease growing in this water and I have a fgeeling that we will see terrible effects once the waters recede.Today is the third anniversary of my acceptance of an appointment in the Oregon National Guard. Hell of a way to commemorate it...I wouldn't be anywhere else. | Arnold Strong
