The Oregon National Guard kicked it in to high gear immediately after the storm passage. Realizing that the magnitude of the damage and destruction to the infrastructure and the extensive human suffering exceeded the capacity of the the LANG, Oregon deployed more than 2,000 Soldiers from two brigades to participate in security, stability, and humanitarian assistance efforts. It was a tremendous effort to synchronize the rapid deployment of personnel and equipment via strategic air and line haul clear across the country. It was great to be a part of a much bigger effort comprised of more than 50,000 National Guard Soldiers and Airman.
