Great Thanks
Posted by gwood99 on Thu, September 29 2005
As President/CEO of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA|Riverfront), I am most grateful for the work of the women and men of the Oregon National Guard. On behalf of the State of Louisiana, NOCCA|Riverfront employees and students, and the general New Orleans community, I thank you for your commitment and service.

In the immediate aftermath of the storm, campus security was of paramount concern. The news that our buildings sustained relatively light damage from the hurricane was joyous, but words cannot describe the happiness felt upon learning of the Guard’s presence. Such news brought great comfort to our students, faculty members, and administrators scattered across the country.

Upon my visit on September 17, 2005, I was met by first-rate, professionals. At every turn, words of compassion and support came my way. It was clear that the campus was in excellent hands—all of our equipment, belongings, and materials were respected in full. On that day, I was able to witness both a flag and promotion ceremony—an unbelievable day in the history of our arts school.

In short, the members of the Oregon Army National Guard and 41st Brigade Combat Team brought (and continue to bring) great honor to the State of Oregon. Their footprint on our campus will never be forgotten.

Best wishes to you all,

Gary Alan Wood, President/CEO
The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts|Riverfront
