Bike Patrolby 1-186 IN BN PAO on September 16, 2005 at 10:27 AMUsing bicycles provided by NOPD, Charlie Co gets around. Charlie Company, 1st Battalion 186 Infantry were gifted with some NOPD patrol bicycles. C Co has the task of patrolling the area around Delgado Community College. They check water levels, look for civilians returning to the area, as well as those who don’t belong in the area, check IDs and passes and generally make themselves seen.Major Gregory Day, Executive Officer of the 1-186 In Bn and I, SFC Hanson PAO, rode along with Sgt Randy Modglin and Cpl Michael Love on a local patrol. “We can really move around fast and cover more ground” said Sgt Modglin. The bicycles are a Smith and Wesson model made specially for law enforcement. They are equipped with red, blue, and white lights and first aid kits. I don’t know if they have sirens.
