Hurricane Katrina was the largest real-world deployment in the history of the 272 Combat Communications Squadron, Oregon Air National Guard. The 272 made ready over 100 short tons of equipment, personnel and supplies within hours of the mobilization order, with boots on ground within 48 hours of official notification. In all sixty-five percent of the unit responded.

Eagle Newspapers had me travel to New Orleans to report back on all the good work the Oregon National Guard is doing. We have 12 papers that cover Idaho Washington and Oregon. I thought I would put up some of the pages, so you guys could see some of your hometown coverage. keep up the good work. NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Fast-rising water brought by the outer edge of Hurricane Rita spilled over a freshly patched levee in New Orleans on Friday and flooded a deserted neighborhood of the already devastated city.
