Congressial Visit to New Orleans (3 pictures)

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D, 4th District, Ore.) and Rep. Darlene Hooley (D, 5th District, Ore.) were the first legislators to visit New Orleans from outside the state of Louisiana. They were impressed with the efforts of Oregon Guardsmen and continual improvements being made by the citizen soldiers and airmen of the Oregon National Guard

This is a montage of photos taken by Oregon Army National Guardsman PFC Tim Brownlow of the 115th MPAD. Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city of New Orleans and local parishes. These pictures catalogue my experiences here in New Orleans, La.

Raising of the National Flag (3 pictures)

The Stars and Strips were raised in honor above the campus of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). During the first visit of key NOCCA administrators, instructors and staff, the 41 Brigade Troops Battalion conducted a Flag raising ceremony with a Color Guard and band (with musical instruments furnished from the NOCCA collection). Many smiles were seen and hearts warmed as the National Colors were raised at the NOCCA campus.

These are photos from around FOB Douglass in New Orleans during our unit's mission from a "Mess Section" point of view. Everyone eventually has to eat so they may get a meal and a snapshot to go with it. We kept pretty busy but there was time for a few pictures.

Largest Deployment in Unit History (42 pictures)

Hurricane Katrina was the largest real-world deployment in the history of the 272 Combat Communications Squadron, Oregon Air National Guard. The 272 made ready over 100 short tons of equipment, personnel and supplies within hours of the mobilization order, with boots on ground within 48 hours of official notification. In all sixty-five percent of the unit responded.
